Shirley was elected to the Village Board in April, 2011. This is her second 4-year term as a Village Trustee and she currently serves on the Finance, Personnel & Cable TV Committee and chairs the Police Committee. 

Shirley is the Director of Douglas County 9-1-1 and has served as the National Emergency Numbers Association- Region 5 Vice President representing 18 counties in central Illinois. 

Shirley attended Eastern Illinois University and is a member of the United Church of Atwood. She has served as a Sunday School teacher, Moderator, Trustee and currently serves on the Church and Ministry Council. She and her husband, Wayne, are the parents of 3 children and have lived in Atwood for 30 years.
